Spiced Winter Red Tea

Christmas may be all done with, but there's still plenty of winter left ahead of us before things start to warm up. One of my favourite recent discoveries for keeping the chill at bay is the Spiced Winter Red Tea from teapigs.

great winter teas

A lovely rooibos (red bush) base is is given a warming wintery twist with the addition on orange peel, cinnamon and cloves for a really unique and delicious seasonal tea. The smell of cinnamon alone is usually enough to make me feel cheery and is always a welcome addition in anything from cake to bath bombs, so it works a treat here. The combination of that and the cloves and orange results in a drink that teapigs accurately describe as 'Christmas in a cup'. Not to mention the red tea base means this one is caffeine free, so perfect for taking to bed to warm you up on a cold night!

spiced tea

This tea went down so well at work, where I had it delivered, that I had to smuggle the rest of the box out in the end just to stop everyone else drinking it! Those windy day's we've had recently, the ones where you can hear the wind going right through you no matter how high you put the heating up, had sent people running for this - a kind of comforting warmth that has nothing to do with temperature.

I found the tea delicious both black and with milk, but the milk really brings out the sweetness in the flavour that appeals to my sugar-loving self so that quickly became my favourite way to take it. However, teapigs suggest that it goes grand with a touch of brandy and though I've not tried it that way myself (mainly due to a lack of brandy to hand) I can imagine it would be a real treat, and a definite winter warmer!

  2. I didn't know you could have it with milk, all the reviews I've seen had it just with water... :)
