Body Shop Hair Chalks

When I was younger and the declining condition of my hair caused me no concern, I used to dye it no end of fun/ridiculous colours - which meant bleaching first as my hair is so dark.

Then I grew older, and more importantly - lazier, and don't really have the time or energy required to maintain pretty coloured hair - it's really all I can do to keep the grey at bay! I loved the idea of the temporary, easy and non-damaging hair chalks I started to see everywhere, thinking they could be my answer to short term colours.

easy pink and blue hair

So I got myself a nice cheap Chinese pack of multi-coloured hair chalks. And I sat down with my almost-black hair and applied the prettiest and brightest colours in my pack. And nothing happened. Nothing.
I tried again in my daughters hair, quite a bit lighter than my own, and just got the merest hint of colour. I have every confidence they'd have been ok in light blonde hair, but for me they were entirely pointless.
So when I saw that The Body Shop were releasing their own hair chalks, I didn't get my hopes up too high. But then I saw Jess's review saying they worked on her hair, so those hopes raised a little - enough for me to email the company asking if they thought the product would work for me, and I was assured that they would (a very fair, confident-but-not-cocky assurance at that!). So when The Body Shop next had one of their big 'huge percent off everything' discount codes these were the first thing in my basket.
But did they work?

Well, yes!

I'm so pleased with the colour payoff of these in my hair, you can actually see them and everything!

At the minute there are only two colours, Tickle Me Pink and Falling For Blue, and I love them both though I have a particular soft spot for the blue one.
They're easy enough to apply - basically run bits of your hair through the little pots with your thumb and you get pretty coloured hair! It can get a little messy, so they recommend a towel or something over your shoulders to protect clothing from any fall out. Also if you don't seal the chalk with hairspray you might find it kind of gets everywhere you touch. That can be easily avoided though just by following the instructions on the packet (why do I so rarely listen?), and it washes out without a trace too!
At £5 full price (and frequent deals and discounts on the site) I couldn't be happier with these and only hope new colours are added to the range so I can have a rainbow summer!
